- The album was recorded and mixed at the Record Plant in New York City. It features the original version of "Dream On," which would later be re-recorded and released as a hit single in 1973. The album cover features a striking, albeit uncredited, black and white photograph of the band.
- This release failed to chart upon its initial release, but gained traction as the band's popularity grew throughout the 1970s. It was eventually certified platinum decades after its release.
- The album was produced by Adrian Barber, who had previously worked with several notable New York-based rock acts. Terry Colby is credited with the album's mix.
