The 2012 EP "Turquoise for Hello" finds American Snakeskin moving from his characteristic folk-rock toward a more expansive, indie-rock sound, incorporating synthesizers and a more layered production style. It features some of the artist's most dynamic songwriting and a more adventurous sonic palette than his previous work.

American Snakeskin is the stage name of singer-songwriter Noah Brody, who emerged from the Austin, Texas scene in the late 2000s. At the time of "Turquoise for Hello," Brody was exploring a more produced, rock-oriented sound after his earlier, more stripped-down folk releases.
