Barren Earth's debut is a crushing, yet melodic, slab of progressive doom metal that drew on the considerable talents of its members, many of whom were already established in the genre.
- "Curse of the Red River" was recorded at SoundSpiral Studio in Kouvola, Finland, with engineer Juho Räihä. The album was mixed and mastered by Ahti Kortelainen at Tico-Tico Studio in Kempele, Finland.
- The album features guest vocals from Joakim Skog of Octavia Sperati on the track "The Dead Lay Waiting."
- "Curse of the Red River" charted at number 28 on the Finnish album charts in its first week of release.
Barren Earth is a progressive metal band founded in 2007 by members of the Finnish doom metal scene. They released their debut album, "Curse of the Red River," in 2010, following a period of songwriting and pre-production.
