"Blood on Ice" is a concept album featuring music written in 1989 and 1990, but not released until 1996. The album tells a story of the Norse gods and the great cold in a land of ice.

Bathory is the Swedish extreme metal project of Quorthon. Bathory's music defined the black metal sound of the 1980s and later pioneered the Viking metal genre.
