Vives’ 2023 album is a re-recording of his 1993 breakout record, which originally fused traditional vallenato with rock and pop elements. This rendition strips back much of the original’s polish, opting for a sparer, more intimate sound.

Carlos Vives is a Colombian multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer from Santa Marta, known for pioneering the pop-rock sound known as Vallenato Pop. At the time of this release, Vives was revisiting his early work after a period of immense international success and sustained output.
