Chris Cornell was an American singer-songwriter, best known as the frontman for the Seattle grunge band Soundgarden and later for the supergroup Audioslave. In 2008, Cornell had recently released his second solo studio album, "Scream," a commercially disappointing foray into R&B and hip hop produced by Timbaland.
