Earth Rot

Capitol RecordsSee this day

The final album in Axelrod's trilogy for Capitol, "Earth Rot" is a grim, apocalyptic funk-rock statement that directly addresses environmental collapse. It was one of the first concept albums to focus on ecological themes.

David Axelrod was an American producer, composer, and arranger, best known for his influential work in the jazz, soul, and funk genres. At the time of "Earth Rot," Axelrod was deep into his exploratory period with Capitol Records, having already released several ambitious concept albums.
