The 1974 album "Me 'n Rock 'n Roll Are Here to Stay" found Ruffin attempting to broaden his sound to incorporate elements of funk and rock, with mixed results. The LP produced two singles, including the title track.
- The album was Ruffin's second for the UNI label after leaving Motown for the second time. It featured a cover of The Guess Who's "No Time." Ruffin's ex-Temptations bandmate Eddie Kendricks also released an album in 1974.
- The album's biggest single, "I'm Among the Few," charted at number 94 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 32 on the R&B chart. The title track, a Chuck Jackson cover, received a limited single release.
- "Me 'n Rock 'n Roll Are Here to Stay" was Ruffin's final studio album released during his lifetime. He would pass away in 1991.
