Kendricks's 1976 album "Goin' Up in Smoke" found the former Temptation embracing the burgeoning disco sound with a harder edge than many of his peers. The title track became a club favorite.

Eddie Kendricks was an American soul singer, best known as the lead composer and falsetto voice of The Temptations. He left the group in 1971. In 1976, Kendricks released "Goin' Up in Smoke," an album that signaled a move toward disco and contemporary R&B.
