This 1956 release from jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, released on Music Manager, is a landmark recording in the Great American Songbook series. It features her interpretations of twelve songs by Cole Porter.

• The album was produced by Norman Granz, a prominent jazz impresario and producer. It was the first of six songbook albums Fitzgerald would record for Verve Records. The album reached number 1 on Billboard's Jazz Albums chart.
• The album featured arrangements by Buddy Bregman, who also worked with Fitzgerald on the previous "Songs from the Heart" album. This release cemented Fitzgerald's status as a premier interpreter of the Great American Songbook.
• Cole Porter himself purportedly called Fitzgerald's version of "All Through the Night" his favorite rendition of the song. This album was the first of six consecutive "Song Book" albums Fitzgerald would record for Verve.

Ella Fitzgerald is an American jazz singer, widely regarded as one of the greatest vocalists in popular music history. She was born in Newport News, Virginia, and rose to fame in the 1930s.
