- The album was initially released on limited edition vinyl in a unique gatefold sleeve with hand-drawn artwork. In its first year, "Early Spring" sold over 50,000 copies in the US, exceeding the band's expectations for an independent release.
- The single "Ghost of You" from "Early Spring" received moderate airplay on college radio stations, peaking at number 15 on the CMJ charts. Music videos were produced for both "Ghost of You" and "Flicker and Fade," the latter directed by indie film stalwart David Gordon Green.
