Recorded live over three nights in late 1980 at Radio City Music Hall, Dead Set captures the Grateful Dead in a period of resurgence, performing material both old and new.

Grateful Dead were a San Francisco band that coalesced in the mid-1960s around guitarist Jerry Garcia, playing a genre-defying blend of rock, folk, blues, and jazz. Though they never achieved consistent mainstream success, they maintained a dedicated following and became known for their marathon live shows and improvisational prowess. In 1981, the band was finding a new audience thanks to the unexpected success of the single "Touch of Grey."
