This 1957 album features Johnson in a classic trombone duo setting with Kai Winding, a concept that yielded two albums for WM Sweden, of which this was the first.

J. J. Johnson was a pioneering trombonist and composer, widely regarded as the most technically proficient trombonist in jazz history. "Jay and Kai" arrived mid-career, following his highly regarded work with the JJ Quintet and preceding his later explorations into larger ensembles and film scores.
