"Stripping Cane" is the debut album from Jeffrey Foucault, a collection of stark, intimate songs. It was self-released in 2004.
- The album was recorded in a single day at a studio in Western Massachusetts. It features Foucault on acoustic guitar and vocals, with minimal accompaniment.
- "Stripping Cane" was re-recorded and re-released by New West Records in 2009 with fuller arrangements. The original 2004 version is now out of print.
- The album features Foucault's original songs, with the exception of a cover of John Prine's "Sam Stone." It was largely ignored by the music press at the time of its initial release.
Jeffrey Foucault is a folk singer-songwriter from Wisconsin. He is best known for his deeply felt, literate songs delivered in a characteristically resonant baritone.
