Jerry Butler is an American singer-songwriter, often called the "Ice Man." He is known for his deep, smooth voice and his extensive career in soul and R&B music. In 1968, Butler was a established star, having already charted dozens of singles and albums since the late 1950s. He had recently moved to Mercury Records after a long stint with Vee-Jay Records.
