Jim Carroll was an American poet and punk rocker, best known for his spoken-word recordings and the autobiographical novel "The Basketball Diaries." He emerged from the downtown New York scene of the 1970s. "Catholic Boy" was his debut album, released at the dawn of the 1980s punk and new wave era.
