- The album was recorded at the De Lane Lea Studios in Wembley, London. It was produced by Alan Perry, who had previously worked with Deep Purple. The album reached number 46 on the UK Albums Chart.
- "Music" was a transatlantic hit, reaching the Top 10 in the UK, Australia, and South Africa. It was also a Top 40 hit in the US Billboard Hot 100. Miles would later re-record "Music" in German as "Musik" which also became a hit in Germany.
- "Rebel" was Miles's only album released on the UMC label. His subsequent albums would be released on Polydor.
