A prime example of Griffin's signature fiery improvisations and blues-drenched runs, this album captures the saxophonist in peak form. The title track, in particular, remains a showcase of his dazzling technique and rhythmic intensity.

Johnny Griffin was a blistering tenor saxophonist from Chicago, known for his explosive speed and bluesy tone. In 1959, he was a vital voice in the hard bop scene, releasing this album the same year he recorded "One by One" and played on Art Blakey's "Moanin'".
