This 2001 independent single predates Keane's major label success, offering a raw, alternative rock sound that would soon evolve. It showcases the band's early, guitar-heavy work before the piano became their signature.
- The single was released on CD and 7-inch vinyl in the UK. It was self-released by the band on their own label, Zoom Records. The single failed to chart on its initial release.
- The B-side to the single was the track "At the End of the Line". The band would later sign with Island Records in 2003. "Wolf at the Door" was not included on any of Keane's studio albums.
- The single was produced by the band and mixed by Andy Green. It was recorded at the Coach House Studios in Cornwall. Limited quantities of the original pressing have become collector's items.
