Ayers' 1969 debut "Joy of a Toy" is a pastoral, psych-tinged collection that introduced his singular, laid-back vocal style and avant-folk sensibilities to a wider audience. The album features contributions from members of the Whole World, including Robert Wyatt and Daevid Allen.

Kevin Ayers was an English singer-songwriter and guitarist, a key member of the Canterbury scene and a co-founder of Soft Machine. He went solo in 1969, releasing his debut album "Joy of a Toy" that same year.
