The follow-up to "Cocky," this self-titled album continued Kid Rock's commercial dominance, albeit with less of the genre-blending novelty that had previously defined his sound. It was a more straightforward hard rock album, leaning into the sound that would characterize his later work.

Kid Rock is a proudly, performatively unreconstructed Michigan musician and showman whose blend of hard rock, rap, and country has topped charts nationwide. By 2003, he had parlayed his multi-genre, frat-boy persona into significant mainstream success, with the previous year's "Cocky" spawning his biggest hit single.
