Violet Street

Loma Vista RecordingsSee this day

On "Violet Street," Local Natives largely forgo the layered harmonies of their earlier work, instead embracing a moodier, synth-heavy sound built on driving rhythms. The album was famously recorded entirely in a house they rented in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles-based Local Natives emerged in the late 2000s, known for their intricate vocal harmonies and blend of indie rock and psychedelic pop. By 2019, they were refining their sound, moving into more electronic and synth-driven textures on their fourth album.
