This 1965 release finds Kitchener in a danceable, organ-heavy mode, a precursor to the reggae sounds he would later explore.

Aldwyn Roberts, known as Kitchener, was a Trinidadian calypso singer, songwriter, and bandleader. He was a prominent figure in calypso music from the 1940s through the 1990s, winning the Calypso Monarch title multiple times. King of Calypso was released in 1965, a period when Kitchener was a well-established star in his native Trinidad and the wider Caribbean diaspora.
