"Chimera" is the fifth full-length studio album by Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. The album was released on April 6, 2004, via Season of Mist.
- The album was recorded at the newly established Necrolab studio in Sweden. It was the first Mayhem album to feature a more varied vocal style from frontman Maniac. "Chimera" showcases a more experimental and melodic approach compared to their earlier, raw material.
- The album's cover art was created by Polish artist Zbigniew Bielak. It was Mayhem's second release on the French label Season of Mist. The album charted in some European countries, with a peak position of #24 in Norway.
- The album was produced by Mayhem themselves, with additional engineering by Tomas Skogsberg. Guitarist Rune "Blasphemer" Eriksen played a significant role in the songwriting process. The album was preceded by the 2003 EP "Pagan Fears".
Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1984. They are considered one of the most influential and notorious bands in the black metal genre.
