Mika Vainio was a Finnish electronic musician, also known as Ø, who made some of the most visceral and challenging noise music of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. After a prolific period with Sähkö Recordings and releasing seminal works as Ø, Vainio continued to explore harsh electronics and industrial soundscapes under his own name and other monikers on labels like Raster-Noton and Northern Electronics.
