This 2013 release compiles material from the legendary 1961 sessions for Miles Davis's album 'Someday My Prince Will Come.' These tracks showcase the sextet's innovative approach to the genre.
- The original album 'Someday My Prince Will Come' was the final studio album to feature drummer Philly Joe Jones. It was also the last album to feature bassist Paul Chambers. The recording sessions took place at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in Manhattan.
- The album was the first of Davis's recordings to feature Wayne Shorter on tenor saxophone. However, Shorter's contributions were later overdubbed by Hank Mobley. This was due to Davis's dissatisfaction with Shorter's playing.
- The album reached number 1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. It was also certified Gold by the RIAA.
