The follow-up to the Grammy-winning "Girl You Know It's True," "Blame It on the Rain" continued Milli Vanilli's string of international dance-pop hits. Though a global success, the single would later become a focal point in the lip-syncing scandal that ultimately led to the revocation of their Best New Artist award.

Milli Vanilli was a German-French R&B duo formed by music producer Frank Farian. They were best known for their string of pop hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s. "Blame It on the Rain" was released as a single during their peak commercial success, following their Grammy win for Best New Artist.
