This 2001 album was the band's fourth release for Universal-Island Records. It featured their first single to chart outside the UK Top 40.
- The album was recorded at Olympic Studios in Barnes, London, with producer Dave Bascombe. It reached number 15 on the UK Albums Chart. The lead single, "Safecracker," peaked at number 41 on the UK Singles Chart.
- Songs for the Front Row features guest vocals from Paul Weller on the track "I Am the Rain." This was the first time Weller had guested on an Ocean Colour Scene record.
