This album found Lee further exploring the jazz and R&B territories she had been charting, with a focus on rhythm and a more direct vocal delivery than some of her earlier, more orchestrated work. It features a number of her own compositions alongside material by other writers.

Peggy Lee was an American jazz and blues singer, songwriter, and composer, best known for her recordings with Capitol Records in the 1940s and 50s. In 1962, Lee was at a mature stage of her career, having already established herself as a sophisticated vocalist with a string of hits, and was continuing her work with Capitol Records.
