This album was Powderfinger's highest-charting release, and one of the best-selling Australian albums of all time.
- Odyssey Number Five was Powderfinger's first album to reach number one on the ARIA Charts. It was also their first album to achieve platinum status in Australia, eventually reaching 8x platinum. The album's lead single, "The Metre", became the band's first top-ten hit in Australia.
- The album was certified Platinum by ARIA in November 2000 and went on to reach 8x Platinum. It spent 68 weeks on the ARIA Charts.
- The album yielded three singles: "The Metre", "These Days", and "My Happiness". "These Days" and "My Happiness" both reached the top 10 of the ARIA Singles Chart.
Powderfinger is an Australian alternative rock band formed in Brisbane in 1989. They became one of Australia's most successful and recognisable bands throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
