This 2012 double A-side single saw Public Image Ltd. return with new material after a lengthy hiatus. The tracks were recorded for their first album in 17 years, 'This is PiL'.
- The single was released by the band's own label, PiL Official. It preceded the release of the album 'This is PiL' by six months. It was the band's first new music released since 2009's 'Everything's Nice'.
- The single was supported by a UK tour in late 2012. The 'This is PiL' album was self-funded by the band through a crowdfunding campaign.
- 'Out of the Woods' featured the return of original bassist Jah Wobble, who had not played with the band since 1983. Wobble's involvement was a surprise to many fans, given their acrimonious split.
Public Image Ltd. was a post-punk band formed in London in 1978 by John Lydon. They were known for their experimental sound and confrontational performances. PiL in 2012 was Lydon, former Zeitgeist guitarist Keith Levene, and Jah Wobble, still touring and releasing new material.
