Little Criminals

Little Criminals eschews some of Newman's more confrontational character studies for a more direct, sometimes almost tender, exploration of flawed individuals. The album marked a slight shift in tone, finding Newman in a more introspective, if still darkly humorous, mode.

Randy Newman is a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter whose pointedly satirical, character-driven songs have been influential since the late 1960s. By 1977, he had established himself as a master of crafting uncomfortable truths through deceptively simple melodies and arrangements.
