This 1970 session, originally released on the Perception label, finds Garland in a period of creative re-engagement, moving away from his Prestige trio dates. It's a solid effort that showcases his signature piano style within a slightly more contemporary jazz context.

Red Garland was an American jazz pianist from Pittsburgh, widely recognized for his sophisticated improvisational style and his work with Miles Davis. He came to prominence in the mid-1950s as a member of the first great Miles Davis Quintet.
