DN 51 features two tracks of the stripped-down, punishing techno that defined Regis's sound on his own label. The A-side, "Voice of the 6th Segment," is a driving, percussive workout, while the B-side, "A Study in the Speed of Light," offers a more atmospheric, though no less intense, experience.
- DN 51 was released on Downwards, the label Regis co-founded with Surgeon.
- Both tracks on the EP were produced by Regis.
- The EP was released on vinyl and digital formats.
Regis is the alias of Karl O'Connor, a Birmingham, UK producer and DJ associated with the UK's techno scene. He is a co-founder of the Downwards label. He is known for his raw, industrial-tinged take on techno. This 2014 EP, DN 51, marked a return to releasing new material on his own Downwards label after a period focused on mastering and vinyl distribution. It came after a string of high-profile DJ appearances and ahead of his work with Silent Servant as soft, and a collaboration with Ancient Methods.
