
"Keys to the World" was Ashcroft's third solo album, released after the second Verve reunion and before their hugely successful "Urban Hymns." It showcases his evolving sound as a solo artist.
- The album reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart. It was produced by J. Spaceman, who also produced Ashcroft's debut solo album. The single "Break the Night with Colour" was a top 10 hit in the UK.
- The album was recorded at Helioscentric Studios in Rye, East Sussex, and at Olympic Studios in London. It features guest appearances from keyboardist Bob Loveday and guitarist Wil Malone. The record was released on Parlophone Records.
- The release date was January 23, 2006. It followed his 2000 debut "Alone with Everybody" and 2002's "Human Conditions." This album continued his exploration of string arrangements and rock-infused songwriting.
