Status Quo returns with "In Search of the Fourth Chord," an album that largely finds them comfortable in their signature boogie-rock sound. The album was released in 2007.

• "In Search of the Fourth Chord" was released on edel Records in September 2007. The album reached number 42 in the UK album charts. It was the band's first studio album of new material in four years.
• Recorded in late 2006 and early 2007, the album features a more consistent production quality than some of their previous work. It was recorded at their own studio, Sarm West.
• The title is a reference to the band's simple, often two or three-chord song structures, humorously suggesting a search for more complex arrangements. The album was produced by long-time collaborator Mike Paxman.
