Stone Sour's 2017 album Hydrograd was their first to be self-produced, with the band taking the reins alongside producer Jay Ruston at Sphere Studios in Los Angeles.
- Hydrograd was the band's first album to be released on Roadrunner Records since Come What(ever) May. It debuted at number 8 on the US Billboard 200. The album's lead single "Song 3" reached number 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.
- The album marked a return to a more straightforward hard rock sound after the conceptual double album House of Gold & Bones Part 1 & 2. It was the last album to feature their longest-serving guitarist Josh Rand.
- Hydrograd was recorded live in the studio, a departure from their previous albums which were typically recorded using more elaborate production techniques. The band aimed for a rawer, more immediate sound on this record.
Stone Sour is a hard rock band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2002, fronted by Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor. Hydrograd was the band's sixth studio album, released during a period of relative stability following the departure of guitarist Jim Root.
