The 1995 release "Imaginary Tartan Menagerie" found Tartan Amoebas exploring a more concise, yet still experimental, sound. The album served as a bridge between their earlier noise-rock leanings and later, more melodic material.
- "Imaginary Tartan Menagerie" was the band's third album and first for the Iona Records label. It was recorded at CaVa Sound Workshops in Glasgow with producer Stuart Lowther. The album was reissued in 2008 with bonus tracks from the period.
