Elektra RecordsSee this day

The album features a more contemporary R&B sound, incorporating elements of funk and pop, and showcases Pendergrass's signature smooth vocals.

Teddy Pendergrass was a Philadelphia soul singer, a former lead vocalist for Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. He became a solo artist in 1977, known for his deep voice and romantic ballads. In 1984, Pendergrass was at a commercial peak, having recently overcome a paralyzing automobile accident, and Love Language was his first album of new material since his recovery.
