On "Demonic," Testament's eighth album, the band returned to a more aggressive sound after the more experimental "Low." The lineup on this album featured Chuck Billy, Eric Peterson, Derrick Ramirez, Gene Hoglan, and James Murphy.
- "Demonic" was recorded at The House of Metal in San Francisco. It was the first Testament album to feature drummer Gene Hoglan. The album was produced by Testament, and mixed by Juan Urteaga.
- The album was released by Nuclear Blast on June 9, 1997. It reached number 16 on the German album charts.
- "Demonic" was Testament's first album since 1994's "Low," and featured a return to a more thrash-oriented sound. It also marked the first time Chuck Billy sang lead vocals on a Testament album without Alex Skolnick on guitar.
