- "Wake Up Little Susie" hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, displacing Jerry Lee Lewis's "Great Balls of Fire."
- The B-side, "Tom Dooley," was a traditional folk song arranged by the duo and their producer.
- The song was banned by the BBC for being too suggestive.
