Clouds Taste Metallic

After the spaced-out, noisy experimentation of 'The Soft Bulletin' and 'Yoshimi', 'Clouds Taste Metallic' sounds almost like a conventional rock record, albeit one where the conventions are filtered through a hall of mirrors. The songs here are often brutally concise, and the production, helmed by the band and Platinum Weird's Michael Ivins, is surprisingly direct.

The Flaming Lips are a rock band from Oklahoma City, known for their experimental, psychedelic music and elaborate live shows. In 1995, they were midway through their tenure on a major label, having moved from Restless Records to Warner Brothers.
