The J. Geils Band was a rock and roll group from Massachusetts that blended blues, R&B, and rock. Emerging in the early 1970s, they were known for their energetic live shows and frontman Peter Wolf's distinctive vocal style. By 1977, the band was three albums into their deal with Atlantic Records, having recently released the live album Blow Your Face Out.
