This single was the Trio's attempt to capitalize on the folk revival's growing interest in topical songs, though it only reached #102 on the Billboard charts. It was one of their final releases before their commercial fortunes began to wane.

The Kingston Trio were an American folk and folk-rock group. They were the most commercially successful act in that genre during the late 1950s and early 1960s.
