The Monkees' 1967 LP, "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd.," showcased the band's increasing musical maturity and psychedelic leanings, moving beyond their initial manufactured image.

The Monkees were a manufactured American pop-rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1966. Initially conceived as a musical counterpart to the television series of the same name, they quickly transcended their origins to become a commercially successful act in their own right. Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. was released late in their career, during a period when the band members were asserting more creative control and their music was evolving. It came after the psychedelic experimentation of 'Headquarters' and 'The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees,' and represented a further step in their artistic development, though it would be followed by the departure of Peter Tork and the group's eventual disbandment.
