The Magnificent Moodies features the band’s first hit single. It was one of the earliest examples of a rock band incorporating orchestral elements into their sound.
- The album was released in the UK by Pye International Records and in the US by London Records. It reached number 33 on the UK Albums Chart. The sessions featured the lineup of Denny Laine, Clint Warwick, Ray Thomas, Mike Pinder, and Graeme Edge.
- The album was recorded at the peak of the band's initial R&B-influenced phase, before their later progressive rock sound emerged. It was produced by Alex Murray.
- The album's biggest hit, "Go Now", reached number 1 on the UK Singles Chart and number 10 in the US. The song was originally a B-side.
The Moody Blues are a rock band formed in Birmingham, England, in 1964. They are best known for their pioneering use of synthesizers and orchestral arrangements in rock music. This 1965 album marked their debut.
