The Mountain Goats are a long-running indie rock project led by John Darnielle, known for their prolific output and lyrical focus on the underdog. Emerging from the DIY folk scene of the 1990s, they have evolved through various sonic palettes while maintaining their distinct narrative voice. "Jam Eater Blues" arrived in the midst of a prolific period for the band, following up 2022's "Bleed Out" and preceding the announced 2024 album "Jenny from thebes."
