- "Let's Shake Hands" was recorded in January 1998 at Ferndale, Michigan's Third Man Studio. The single was originally released on the Sympathy for the Record Industry label. It featured "The Big Three Killed My Baby" as its B-side.
- The single was later included on the compilation album 'Walking with a Ghost' in 2010. It was also included on the deluxe edition of 'The White Stripes' in 2020. Legacy Recordings reissued the single in 2000.
- "Let's Shake Hands" was co-produced by Jim Diamond and The White Stripes. The track runs at a brisk 2:01. It was The White Stripes' first official release.
