1979's "Quadrophenia" found The Who revisiting their 1973 rock opera of the same name, delivering a more immediate, hard-hitting rendition that translated their ambitious concept to the screen.

The Who were a British rock band formed in London in 1964, known for their energetic live performances and ambitious concept albums. Emerging from the mod scene, they became pioneers of hard rock and stadium rock throughout the 1970s. In 1979, The Who were at a transitional point, still reeling from the death of drummer Keith Moon the previous year and attempting to solidify their sound with a new drummer.
