The 2004 album "Suspended Night" marked a return to ECM for the Tomasz Stańko Quartet after a period of international collaboration. The album showcases the quartet's tight interplay and Stańko's distinctive lyrical-yet-angular trumpet style.
- "Suspended Night" was recorded in February 2003 atotone Studio in Oslo, Norway. The album reached number 18 on the French jazz charts. It was Stańko's first album for ECM in six years, following "Litania" (1997).
- This release cemented Stańko's reputation as a leading voice in contemporary European jazz. The quartet included pianist Marcin Wasilewski, bassist Sławomir Kurkiewicz, and drummer Michał Miśkiewicz, who would go on to form the Simple Acoustic Trio.
